Chianti Classico
walking & wine tour
Duration: 5 hours | Group Size: private bookings* | Includes: food & drinks
What you’ll do
Behind the famous wines there are so many hardworking people and incredible locations where Chianti is produced. We will guide you through the heart of this land, Greve in Chianti, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, amazing farms and charming old villages that make the Tuscan landscape famous all over the world. Walk through rolling hills and meet the locals who day in, day out, work to make this one of the world’s most popular wine regions. A beautiful day out that you will remember for a lifetime.
“Over a decade ago, the film Under the Tuscan Sun tossed the heart of central Italy into the global tourism spotlight, sending busloads of camera-wielding tourists to historic hamlets and pack-them-in, pack-them-out wine tasting pit stops.” - National Geographic.
Now, forget that. Forget the crowds. Our tour will put you in the heart of the Chianti region, while providing your daily dose of active lifestyle, away from the masses!
Surrounded by world famous vineyards and olive groves, we will walk on beautiful “strade bianche” - wide gravel roads - discovering the area where the famous Chianti Classico wine is produced under very strict regulations. We will also have the chance to visit a beautiful family run farm and visit its amazing canteen and boutique wine production facility. Not only they do produce top-end wine but they also make some other world famous Tuscan products such as olive oil and Vin Santo. Alfredo, one of the owners, is also an artist who hand-paints some of the most beautiful wine labels you can see around: unique bottles that speak incredible stories of people working hand-in-hand with their land.
Having enjoyed our time at the farm, we will keep walking to another gem in the area: a hilltop medieval village listed as one of the most beautiful in Italy. We will explore its lanes, experience its charming atmosphere and stop at a little bar overlooking the vines for coffee. You’re in Italy, right?
We will eventually get back to our starting point for another glass of wine in the amazing central square of the area’s main town.

guest Reviews
This provided another contrast of landscape as we worked our way along paths and through vineyards with the height giving glorious vistas of rolling hills covered with rows of vines and olive trees.
We had pre-booked the added extra of lunch at a family-run vineyard and it is worth including it as part of your walk.
We were given a tour of the small business followed by lunch in the garden with a panoramic Chianti backdrop.
I also bought a bottle that included an original hand-painted label.
Nicola has a wealth of local information at this finger tips (and I don't mean on his phone) and is incredibly passionate of his heritage and proud to be living in this region and to have the chance to reveal some of its natural treasures to visitors.
